On page 34 of the book “Grasscutter Money Machine…”,
I listed 5 things that can improve reproduction in Grasscutters. Let me share them with you.
1.Don’t feed them on Grasses alone:
Do not make the mistake of feeding your Grasscutters only with Elephant Grass
and Guinea grass
Not that it would stop them from reproducing, but what we need is effectiveness in terms of how many Grasscuttlings they can produce and how healthy they will be. Come to think of it, how would you feel if the only food that you eat everyday is rice and beans? I don’t know about you, but that is not an experience i would wish for. So do well to give them wide variety of food like Water melon
Or even PAP (AKAMU-Yes one of my customers confirmed that he fed them the AKAMU his daughter remained and they drank it)
Etc. All these help to balance the diet, giving the female Grasscutters the various NUTRIENTS they need to take care of themselves and their babies.
2. Avoid Stress:
It is understandable that people will want to visit your farm on a regular and feed their eyes with the sights of these beautiful animals. Even the sight of them eating is something anybody will want to observe.
But don’t get carried away, don’t allow them to be stressed as a result of constant exposure to people. I suggest that you and your staff be the only people who have access to them. Except on the days you are conducting a “one on one seminar” or “group seminar.” Let them enjoy themselves without disturbance, so that people won’t always “bump” in on them and scare them during mating.
3. Lengthy Courtship between the Male and his “wives”:
I always advice my customers to separate the male from the females for at least 60 days. This is to stimulate him sexually first before introducing his “wives” to him. If a male courts a female for long, the tendency is that he will start seeing her like his sister. This should be avoided.
